New Delhi:
A three-year-old girl was raped in Delhi allegedly by a play school owner who was beaten up today by angry parents and other protesters.
The incident, which took place at Hari Nagar in west Delhi, surfaced yesterday when the girl returned home from school, bleeding and unwell. A doctor confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted.
The child's family alleges that she had been assaulted for three days and other girls had also been attacked.
"She had been vomiting for three days. She is also getting an infection... she told us that the 'bhaiyya' had attacked her and he had done it to her friends too," said the child's grandmother, explaining that the children called the owners "bhaiyya and didi".
"We complained to the police. Then they took her for a medical examination that took a long time," she told NDTV.
This morning, the owner was attacked by parents and residents when he came to the school. He was beaten till the police arrived. He has been arrested and charged with rape under a stringent law on sexual crimes against children.
The rest of the family that owns the school is missing.
"This is a great shock for all of us. We thought there are cameras and there is enough safety. How can this happen in a school where children are so young and helpless?" questioned a parent protesting outside the school.
