Tihar Jail administration will hold English, Punjabi and Urdu language classes for inmates to
impart reading, writing and speaking skills for their personality development and to make them employment ready.
"It has been decided to hold English, Punjabi and Urdu classes for inmates to impart them reading, writing, and speaking skills for their personality development and preparation for employment after release," a Tihar Jail spokesperson said.
He also said that teachers, who will be teaching inmates, will be selected from among them who are qualified to teach these languages.
"A course curriculum has been developed by the prison for teaching the interested and eligible students. Regular assessment of the students will be monitored periodically by the Prison Authority," he added.
The official also added that initially, it is expected that 65 inmates may get benefit from these classes.
