New Delhi:
In a sharp rebuke to Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal's challenge for a public debate, BJP's new entrant and chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi said that she 'believes in delivery'.
"I believe in delivery, Kejriwal believes in debates. I accept his challenge but we should debate on the floor of the house. He only believes in debates which is why he ran away after 49 days. I believe in delivery and I have delivered in my 40 years of administrative experience."
The BJP has taken a calculated risk by naming the former top cop as its chief ministerial candidate, a departure from the last four elections where the BJP chose to stick with its most popular and prominent face, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kiran Bedi will contest from Krishna Nagar, a seat union minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has won five times and is considered safe for the BJP. President Amit Shah told media persons the party has decided to give her a safe seat so she can focus on other areas and constituencies too.
The BJP stronghold of Krishna Nagar once again will be a VIP constituency for the party playing host to BJP's CM candidate in 2015 as it did for Dr. Harsh Vardhan in December 2013.
