Toll rates hiked on DND flyway

Delhi: Toll rates were on Tuesday hiked on the Delhi-Noida (DND) flyway by NTBCL despite stiff opposition from Noida Authority.

Tll rate for car has been hiked from Rs 20 to Rs 25, for Light Commercial Vehicle from Rs 40 to Rs 50 and for buses and trucks from Rs 50 to Rs 65.

The toll rates for two wheelers, however, remained at Rs 10.
For large vehicles, there has been a hike of Rs 25.

Drivers will now be charged Rs 90 instead of Rs 65. For extra large vehicles, Rs 115 rates would be charged, a hike of Rs 30.

The Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL) hiked the rates despite Noida Authority officials claiming that no such step can be taken without their prior approval and issuance of a notification.

The Authority had on Monday refused to give its nod after DND officials gave a presentation before it.

NTBCL, however, maintained that Noida Chairman was only one of the member of the NTBCL Board of Directors and the majority decision of the Board will prevail.

Earlier, Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association (FONRWA) had opposed the hike.

"We have written to UP Chief Minister Mayawati to takeover the DND Flyway and make it toll free," FONRWA president N P Singh had said.
