Traffic Jams in Delhi as PM Modi Visits Arun Jaitley in Hospital

A scene of the slow-moving traffic on the IIT-Saket stretch

New Delhi: A day before he embarks on his visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tonight visited Finance Minister Arun Jaitely at a hospital in south Delhi.

The visit turned into a traffic nightmare for those passing through the area with many people complaining long jams and slow-moving traffic.

People took to Twitter to vent their anger. "#modi I'm stuck in a traffic jam in South delhi for the last 2 hours coz u r passing by my route n cops hv blocked all roads home. WTH? (sic)" Gokul Luwang tweeted.

Mr Modi arrived at Max Hospital in Saket at around 9:45 pm and spent around 40 minutes with Mr Jaitley who was re-admitted to hospital for a post surgery check-up on Sunday.

Mr Jaitley had undergone a surgery to control diabetes earlier this month.

Mr Jaitley could not attend today's Cabinet meeting as he is yet to be discharged from the hospital where he was admitted on Sunday evening for a post-surgery check-ups.

The Finance Minister is keeping fine but he is under observation, a source close to the minister said.

Earlier this month, the 61-year-old BJP leader had undergone an elective laproscopic procedure for diabetes management. He was discharged on September 10.
