Trial Runs Begin on Delhi Metro's Badarpur-Faridabad Corridor

New Delhi:

The Delhi Metro commenced trials runs of its trains' today on the Badarpur-Faridabad corridor, a statement said.

The first trial run of a train on this section began from Badarpur to Old Faridabad metro station. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's managing director Mangu Singh and other officials were present during the trial, said the statement.

The construction work for this section, which is over 13-km long, is almost complete and is expected to be opened for commuter operations after successful trials, said the statement.

During the trial, the entire signaling system will undergo rigorous testing, it said.

Delhi Metro extension from Badarpur to Faridabad is an elevated corridor with nine stations. The nine stations are Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk, and Escorts Mujesar.

It said two more stations - NCB colony and Ballabhgarh - will be added on this line by 2017.

The corridor is an extension of the existing Mandi House-Badarpur line and has seen an average ridership of 1.92 lakh a day in March 2015.
