New Delhi: Family members of a 35-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) employee, who died in a road accident after being hit by a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus, have been awarded a compensation of over Rs 68 lakh by a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT).
MACT Presiding Officer Naveen Arora directed United India Insurance Company Ltd, insurer of the offending DTC bus, to pay Rs 68,69,300 to the five family members of Dilip Kumar Yadav, who died while crossing road near BRT corridor in December 2014.
The tribunal, while awarding the compensation, observed, "The petitioners at this stage of their life have lost their husband/father/son. The love and care which they could have got from him cannot be measured in terms of money."
According to the petition filed by the victim's wife, parents and his two minor children, Mr Yadav was crossing road near BRT corridor close to Hanuman Mandir on December 24, 2014, when a rashly and negligently driven DTC bus came from Chirag Delhi side and hit him with a great force.
The petition said Mr Yadav, who was earning a monthly income of Rs 36,396 as an employee of CRPF, was the sole bread earner in the family.
