New Delhi: Strange things happen during the wedding season. Getting invited to a ceremony is as much a matter of pride as it is a headache. Gift, attire, transportation - until these matters of paramount importance are sorted out, you can forget about a good night's sleep. Well, these three youths were not taking any chances.
During the little trip, the youth told Sunil that they were taking his car only because they had to attend a marriage function. They pleaded with him not to inform the police, promising to return the vehicle. The youths then pushed Sunil out of the car near Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj. Sure enough, the Santro was found abandoned two days later. It is now in police custody and the victim will get it back soon.
"Sorry brother, we are robbing your car. But don't worry you will get it back once we attend the wedding. Please don't report the matter to the police," said the trio. The police source said that two of the perpetrators drove away the car, while the third one fled on the bike.
"The youths explained to the victim that they were shy of attending the ceremony on a bike. They said that they only needed the car to make a good impression," said the police source.
Sunil, who did not want to speak with this reporter, said that despite what the miscreants told him, he reported the matter to the cops. A police official said that they have lodged an FIR under section 327/379/34 of IPC. According to the police the trio had abandoned the car in Dwarka area. Sunil said that police found it abandoned and took it into their possession. They then informed the Vasant Kunj police.
Sunil is a resident of Fatehpur Beri in south Delhi and works as a software engineer with a well known private firm in the area. He told the police that he was heading home via Munirka when the incident occurred.
