New Delhi: Three people were killed and four others injured when a truck ran over them early Thursday while they were sleeping on a pavement in north Delhi, police said. The truck driver was arrested.
The accident was reported around 2 a.m. near close to railway underpass in Yamuna Bazar area near Kashmere Gate.
"Those killed are Suraj, Rajiv and Sunil. The injured are Abhishek, Amit, Shahib and Haider," said a police officer.
"All the seven people worked in a wedding band and were residents of Meena Bazar area. They were sleeping on a pavement, when the truck ran over them," said a police officer.
"We have arrested driver Fayaz. He said he was on his way to Tughlakabad, when he lost control of the vehcile due to a tyre puncture," he said.
