New Delhi: Two South African women have been arrested by anti-narcotics sleuths for allegedly smuggling 78 kgs of popular party drugs from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi.
The duo were intercepted by CISF personnel late Saturday night when the women, identified as Bulayi Nthabiseng Josephin (42) and Mkhaliphe Grace Bongiw (41), came to the airport and were scheduled to travel to Nairobi.
Josephin, according to security officials, was intercepted after her activities were found suspicious and when her bag was searched 41kgs of popular party drug Pseudoephiderine was recovered.
"This lady led CISF sleuths to the second woman Bongiw who was also present at the airport and was to board the same flight," a senior officer said.
Another cache of 37 kgs of the same category of narcotic drugs was recovered from the second woman, the officer said.
Both the women were on a tourist visa to India and had arrived in Delhi on July 17.
The CISF subsequently informed Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) authorities who took both the women in their custody for further interrogation.
