New Delhi: Two foreign nationals allegedly involved in hacking internet password of bank accounts have been arrested in south Delhi, police said on Monday.
"Evans Ukah Mendi, 34, a Cameroonian national and William Tambo, 37, a South African hacked the internet password of the bank account through phishing (setting up a fake webpage resembling the bank), police said.
The accused were arrested on March 2 from Safdarjung Enclave following a complaint from an account holder that some money has been transferred without his consent.
During investigation, police found that money was used for online shopping, laid a trap and arrested the duo who were awaiting delivery of the product.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they hacked the internet password and used the money for online purchase of goods.
"The address for the delivery of the consignment was fake but they in every instance gave the mobile number so they could collect the consignment, if delivery man fails to locate their address," said police.
Police recovered a laptop, a Mobile phone, and a fake South African passport with a fake Indian visa from the duo.
