New Delhi:
Two petrol pump employees were shot at in east Delhi on Monday morning when they resisted the attempts of three motorcycle-borne men to snatch cash from them near a bank, police said.
The incident took place in front of Bank of Maharashtra in Acharya Niketan near Pandav Nagar at around 9:30 am, a senior police official said.
Six employees of the petrol pump -- four in a car and two on a motorcycle -- had come to the bank to deposit the collection money when the incident took place. Employees Ravi, Mamraj, Pramil and Harish were in the car and Virender and Naresh were on a two-wheeler.
Three unidentified men on a motorcycle were waiting outside the bank and when the employees came out; two of them tried to snatch the cash bag twice but failed.
"The petrol pump employees resisted. When they found that the resistance was high and there were chances that they would be caught, one of them started firing at the employees and fled from the spot.
"Bullets hit Ravi and Mamraj and they were rushed to nearby Jeevan Anmol Hospital where they are undergoing treatment," the official said.
Ravi was hit by two bullets in his stomach while Mamraj was hit by three bullets -- two on his shoulder and one on his finger.
