Van driver of second Delhi ATM cash heist arrested

The driver of the ATM cash van, who had escaped with Rs 51 lakh in the second case of heist in Delhi on Friday, was arrested today. According to the police, Rs 47 lakh has been recovered from him.

The accused, Om Pal, had allegedly given sweets laced with sedatives to the three other men, including a security guard, in the vehicle, which was carrying cash for ATMs for various banks. As soon as the three men were drowsy, Om Pal, escaped with the Rs. 51 lakh in the van. The incident occurred near Kirorimal College in Delhi's north campus area

One of the three men, in a drowsy state, took the wheel and the van reportedly had a minor crash near the Jahangirpuri metro station. It was only at around 1:30 am on Friday night, when the cops received a call about an abandoned van that had been in an accident. The police found the car near the parking of the Jahangirpuri metro station with the three unconscious men inside. All three were immediately moved to the hospital.

The van belonged to a Mumbai-based agency called Logicash, which transports money from banks to ATMs.

On Friday, another ATM van was robbed in south Delhi's Defence Colony. Five people have been arrested in the case.
