Four persons, including a proclaimed offender and receiver of stolen vehicles, were arrested here for their alleged involvement in separate cases of vehicle theft, police said on Thursday. Kamaluddin, a proclaimed offender in two cases, was apprehended from Sadar Bazar area yesterday on a tip off, I B Rani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), said.
Three motorcycles were recovered from the possession of Kamaluddin, a tailor who hails from West Begal. He was previously involved in three cases. In the second case, two youths, Hakam (28), and Irfan (26), both residents of Ghaziabad were apprehended. Five stolen motorcycles were recovered following their arrests. "Hakam was arrested from south Delhi's Gautam Nagar area while Irfan was apprehended from his Ghaziabad residence. They used to dispose of stolen motorcycles for Rs 7000-8000," Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said.
Hakam allegedly named Irfan's uncle Salim, who used toprovide them forged documents after tampering the engine and chassis number by putting fake number plate. Salim is yet to be arrested. Hakam is a carpenter by profession while Irfan is a motorcycle mechanic. Salim runs a workshop in Dhaulana in Ghaziabad where Irfan assists him.
A receiver of stolen vehicles, Virender was arrested from Peetampura yesterday with police recovering two motorcycles from him, Meenu Choudhury, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West), said. "Virender used to receive stolen motorcycles at his garage in Jahangirpuri from a gang of autolifters. After dissembling the stolen motorcycles, he used to change the parts of the stolen motorcycles by replacing the same in genuine motor cycles and selling remaining parts to the scrap dealers,"
