Was Our Direction On Speed Breakers Implemented, Delhi High Court Asks Police
The high court had in 2005 also directed that speed breakers be set up in accordance with specifications laid down by law.
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court today asked the city police whether it was implementing the court's directions to identify and remove illegal and dangerous speed breakers from the national capital roads.

A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw sought a report from the Delhi Police after an application was moved alleging the authorities concerned have "overlooked and diluted" the court's directions.

The high court had in 2005 also directed that speed breakers be set up in accordance with specifications laid down by law.

The application by Swati Aggarwal has claimed that the authorities have "not only not removed unauthorized speed breakers but have also allowed speed breakers not complying with the provisions of law to come up".

In her plea, she has claimed that several accidents have taken place this year itself on account of illegal speed breakers.

In her application, she has sought strict compliance of the court's May 4, 2005 directions on a PIL by Harsh Aggarwal.

She has also sought creation of public awareness amongst citizens of Delhi with regard to proper design, placement and other specifications of speed breakers through print and electronic media.

The court listed the matter for further hearing on January 22, 2016.
