New Delhi:
Shashi Tharoor, junior Human Resource Development Minister, was on his way to an event at Delhi's Talkatora Stadium when women members of the Opposition BJP blocked his car and started banging on it with their fists. The women were protesting against the lack of safety for women in the capital at a function to mark International Women's Day.
Mr Tharoor attended the function with his wife, Sunanda Pushkar, and tweeted a photo of the couple with Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
The event had been organised by women members of the Congress.
Ms Pushkar said, "Why are they protesting? I heard they have even broken the red beacon on Shashi's car. What wrong has he done... to deserve this? I did not like it at all."
