With the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses off the roads due to strike, ridership in the Delhi Metro on Monday saw a spike of nearly 2 lakh passengers from its average footfall on Mondays.
"Mondays' average ridership at 8 pm is around 21 lakh. But at 8 pm today, it was recored at 22.92 lakh," a senior official of the DMRC said.
Bus services remained crippled across the city due to the strike by DTC employees over the killing of a bus driver in a road rage case. The striking drivers demanded a compensation of Rs one crore to the kin of the deceased.

Though metro is a fast and comfortable mode of transport in the national capital, many commuters still travel by bus, especially for shorter routes.
Cases of overcharging by auto-rickshaws were also reported from different parts of the city.
