New Delhi:
A 45-year-old woman was allegedly molested by a man while she was taking her evening walk in central Delhi's Lodhi Garden yesterday. According to the woman's statement to the police, the man, who seemed drunk, attacked her at around 6:30 pm on Sunday. He allegedly pushed and shoved her and attempted to drag her to a dark and deserted spot. The woman, however, fought back and called the police.
The man, who was later arrested by the police, did not try to flee as the woman and other walkers around kept an eye on him.
The woman in her statement has also blamed the police for reaching the spot late. She has said that policemen kept calling her from a PCR van to ask which gate they should enter from. The police, in its defence, said their confusion was natural since there are eight gates, all at a distance to each other, in Lodhi Garden, a popular site for morning and evening walks.
The accused man is reportedly a domestic help at a city businessman's house.
