Woman alleges assault, rape by neighbour

New Delhi: A woman has alleged she was assaulted and raped following an altercation with her neighbours in east Delhi on Sunday, police said, adding that a case had been registered.

"The victim, who claimed to have been assaulted by some of her neighbours over a minor issue, alleges that she had also been sexually assaulted," said Deputy Commissioner of Police OP Mishra.

The incident took place at Kalyanpuri area.

The victim was rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where a medical examination confirmed she had been sexually assaulted.

Police said that initially, they had been informed about a fight in the area. "The victim's mother-in-law called to the police control room and reported that some men, including some juveniles, had barged into her house and assaulted her daughter-in-law," said a senior police officer investigating the case.

Police said the victim, a mother of two, claimed that one of her neighbours raped her.

"The victim has alleged that one of her neighbours, Anna, assaulted her and then subjected her to forced intercourse. A case has been registered," Mishra said.

Police said that Anna is absconding. "He will be nabbed soon," said an officer.
