A woman allegedly committed suicide in a west Delhi locality on Monday, apparently upset with her husband who had punished their daughter for faring badly in her exams.
The woman identified as Tejender Kaur was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her house in Vikaspuri last evening.
Police said the 38-year-old was distressed over the harsh treatment meted out to her daughter by her father who had chided her and had decided to send her away to her aunt following her poor performance in her class IX Science exam.
Tejender apparently took the drastic step after her husband took their 14-year-old daughter to a relative's place in Paschim Vihar.
When her 10-year-old son returned home in the evening and nobody answered the door, the neighbours broke into the house to find the mother hanging, according to police.
Police said the husband and wife had a heated argument after he confronted their daughter over her performance in the exam. However, no suicide note was recovered.
