After a body was discovered from a box that was sent through courier from Delhi to Ajmer, another incident of a body being hidden in a box has surfaced in the National Capital Region. On Wednesday, Ghaziabad police found a body of a young man in a steel box.
The dead man was identified as Monu (26) and the body was found at the residence of his fiance` Meenu (24) at Rajeev colony of Sahibabad near Delhi.
"Monu was missing from his home for last five days and his family had lodged a missing complaint with the police. During that time, neighbours of Meenu started complaining to her family that some foul smell was coming from their house, but her family made an excuse that it might be because of the death of some animal near their house," said a police officer.
However, on Wednesday, when the smell became unbearable, the neighbours called in the police. "As we searched the house, we found that the smell was coming from a steel box. On opening the box, we found body of Monu. We immediately informed his family members and took Meenu and her family members to the police station. During questioning, Meenu revealed that though she was engaged to Monu but he had been very rude to her and didn't want her take up a job. Five days back they had a heated argument in Meenu's home. The argument turned violent and Meenu killed Monu with help of her family members. Then they hid the body in a steel box in their house," the officer added.
A case under section 302 of IPC was lodged and Meenu, her mother and her brother-in-law were arrested.
