Woman, paramour arrested for murdering husband

New Delhi: A woman and her paramour were arrested here alongwith her son-in-law for allegedly murdering her "alcoholic" husband who used to beat her up and extort money from her, police said on Monday.

Asha, her paramour Surender and Sonu allegedly murdered Pradeep in Karawal Nagar on Sunday and dumped his body in a drain. All the three have been arrested, Additional DCP (North-East) B K Singh said.

Pradeep's body was identified by his brother Sanjay, who told police that the deceased was not having a good relationship with his wife and that she was having an affair with Surender.

On this, the duo was questioned and they confessed to the crime, the DCP said.

"The deceased used to beat Usha very frequently. Both Usha and Surender did not like that. Pradeep was also a heavy drinker and used to extort money from Usha who is employed as a sweeper at a private hospital," Singh said.

Sonu, one of Pradeep's sons-in-law, was also upset over his behaviour, Singh said adding the immediate provocation came on Saturday when Pradeep beat up Usha and when his daughters tried to save her, they were also beaten up.

In the evening, Usha, Surender and Sonu met and decided to murder Pradeep. "Surender later got Pradeep heavily drunk and then called Usha and Sonu. The trio took Pradeep to a place near Gulab Vatika on Loni Road where they hit him with a blunt object. Usha also hit him on the forehead by a tiffin box which she was carrying.

After ensuring that Pradeep was dead, they dumped the body near a place on Loni Road from where police recovered it.

Surender and Usha were in a relationship for the past 18 months," Singh said.
