Woman shot dead by husband's relative in Delhi

New Delhi: A young woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband's relative during a function at south-west Delhi, police said today.

The incident took place in Najafgarh at around 8:30 pm and the victim has been identified as Amita, a staff nurse at a hospital in Kamla Market.

She had gone to attend a function at a house of her sister-in-law when the incident took place.

Amita was talking over phone after the function when her husband's relative Anil Dagar came to her and allegedly fired on her.

She fell on the ground and Anil fled from the spot.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Amita is survived by her husband Sunil Dahiya and two children.

The police said the provocation behind the murder was not known. Her father-in-law is in Delhi Police.
