New Delhi: A 35-year-old woman who allegedly duped over Rs 1.5 lakh from a man on the pretext of getting him a government job after claiming to be a high-ranking police officer was arrested in southwest Delhi's Dabri area, police said on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Pooja, had allegedly extorted money worth Rs 1,86,500 by claiming to be 1995 batch IPS officer from Anil Kumar, a resident of Dabri, said a senior police officer.
In his complaint, Anil alleged that Pooja had duped him of Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of getting him a government job and later asked him to pay Rs 86,500 more, the officer said.
After Pooja vanished with his money, Anil lodged a complaint following which Pooja was arrested, he said.
Almost Rs 30,000 was recovered from her, police said.
During questioning, she claimed to have completed her MA in Economics and said that she is a student of PhD in Himachal University, he added.
Pooja had earlier been arrested in a cheating case in Palampur where she had duped a person by claiming to be an IAS officer.
She is a resident of Shimla.
