New Delhi: Fond of cars and motorcycles, the 20-year-old son of a businessman allegedly stole a luxury car but landed in police net within hours after committing the crime along with a teenager.

Ujjwal Sharma, a school dropout, was arrested from Netaji Subhash Place yesterday soon after he allegedly drove away a Honda Civic car fooling a car dealer, Meenu Choudhury, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West), said today.

Sharma told police that he was "fond of cars and motorcycles" and had stolen a motorcycle earlier from Haiderpur area of Shalimar Bagh.

"The youth and his 17-year-old friend came to the car dealer on the same stolen motorcycle and showed interest in purchasing the car and asked the dealer for a test drive. After the test drive they fled away with the car by cheating the dealer," Choudhury said.

The incident took place in Ashok Vihar Phase-II around 4:20 pm yesterday.

"The boys approached Satish Chandra at his office and told him that they wanted to take test drive of a car. He gave the keys to the boys and sat along with them. They took the car upto Laxmi Bai College and came back to the office. The car dealer got off the car and came to his office expecting the boys to follow him. Suddenly the two boys started the car and fled away with it leaving their bike at the car dealer's office," Choudhury said.

During investigations, she said, police received an input that a boy of similar description is roaming around Netaji Subhash Place and was apprehended along with the stolen car.

Sharma is a dropout of a reputed private school of Rohini. He left his schooling after he failed in Class X.

After that he started working with a scrap dealer.

"He belongs to a good family. His father is a businessman," Choudhury said.
