AICTE has notified all approved technical and management institutes to beware of fake news being spread through social media. The Council has asked all institutes to follow only official website for any news.
In a notice available on AICTE website, the Council has warned institutes against fake news being spread through WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook etc. The Council says that for all matters related to classes, exams, entrance tests, admissions, fee payment dates, approvals etc. institutes should refer only to the official channels.
The Council has said that for all relevant information, institutes should rely only on the announcements, instructions, circulars etc. posted on the official websites of the respective organizations, and email and SMS sent by the respective organizations through their official channel only.
During the lockdown period, the cases of fake news being spread through social media has increased. All organizations have constantly warned against believing any news or information which does not come from an official source.
For all matters regarding technical and management education, students, parents should rely on AICTE official website, 'aicte-india.org'. Another reliable source of information is University Grants Commission (UGC) website, 'ugc.nic.in'. Both AICTE and UGC also have official social media accounts which should be followed for regular updates.
