AMUTA Welcomes CBI Enquiry Into The Complaints Against Vice Chancellor
New Delhi:
Aligarh Muslim University Teachers Association (AMUTA), welcomed the government's action of sending a CBI team to enquire into the complaints made against the Vice Chancellor. 'The Executive Committee of AMUTA appreciates and welcomes the action of the Government in sending a CBI team to enquire into the complaints made against the Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. Zameeruddin Shah (Retd) on the subject of irregularities in appointments, promotions, admissions, financial contracts, deteriorating law and order that resulted in firings, blinding and murders as well as transfer of AMU property to outside agencies including a private trust named Sir Syed Education Foundation,' the Teachers association said in a press release.
Sources said that the enquiry team has met University Registrar and Finance Officer so far.
AMUTA has also appealed to enable a proper unbiased enquiry to be held and the powers of the Vice Chancellor and the Pro Vice Chancellor should be withdrawn immediately. 'This step shall hopefully stop any further irregularities from taking place,' said the press release.
'It would also remove the fear of harassment and punitive action from the minds of teachers and employees and help in the effort to unearth the truth. We further request that the Vice Chancellor and the Pro Vice Chancellor along with their aides, including the Registrar, Finance Officer and Controller of Examinations should be sent on leave to enable the enquiry to be completed as soon as possible', said the Teachers Association.
