Bharathiar University, University Of Johannesburg Signs MoU For Academic Cooperation
New Delhi: Coimbatore based Bharathiar University announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the South African University of Johannesburg to provide cooperation in academic activities. The MoU would help for the fine blend of academic learning and hands on experience in research for the student communities of both the organisations, repots Press Trust of India.

The MoU's scope include exchange of students, teachers for the purpose of research, teaching and engaging of special courses in their fields of specialisation, student exchange and study abroad programmes.

According to a press release from Bharatiar, the MoU was signed by Prof. B. Vanitha, Registrar-In-Charge, Bharathiar University and Prof. Swart, Dean, Health Sciences, University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Bharathiar University

The Bharathiar University was established at Coimbatore by the Government of Tamilnadu in February, 1982 under the provision of the Bharathiar University Act, 1981 (Act 1 of 1982). The Postgraduate Centre of the University of Madras, which was functioning in Coimbatore before 1982 formed the core of the Bharathiar University. In May, 1985 the University received the recognition from University Grants Commission (UGC) New Delhi for the purpose of grants.

University of Johannesburg

University of Johannesburg (UJ) is the first and only African university admitted to the highly respected consortium of 28 research-intensive universities in the world, Universitas 21 - an important endorsement of the growing international stature of UJ. UJ's graduate success rate now stands at 83,4% and the overall annual graduate output is in excess of 11,400 students.
