Calcutta University has begun psychological counselling services for all the students of the University. The counselling is being provided by the members of the Department of Psychology and the Department of Applied Psychology at the University. The schedule for counselling is available on the University's official website along with the contact details of the professors who would be providing counselling to students.
Not just the counselling, the University has taken several other steps to assist in the fight against coronavirus outbreak in the state.
University's Chemistry Department is producing hand sanitizers in bulk. The Jute and Fibre Technology Department has initiated production of masks. Both these items will be used and distributed in consultation with the State Government.
These initiatives are in addition to the financial contribution that the University has made to the State Emergency fund. The University, out of its own fund, has contributed a sum of Rs. 10 lakh to the West Bengal State Emergency Relief Fund.
The University had earlier suspended all classes and examinations at departments and its affiliated colleges. The University, in an earlier statement, had said that UG and PG examination dates would be announced after April 15, 2020. However, given the prevailing conditions, it is possible that the exams would be delayed further.
