CBSE Begins Application Process For Private Candidates For 2018 Boards

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has begun the online submission of application form for candidates placed in the category NIOP(Class X), FAIL/COMPARTMENT(Class XII) and those who wish to appear for improving their performance or for an additional subject as Private candidate. During form submission, the details of such candidates who had appeared in the Board exam in 2017 will be auto generated in the system. Candidates from 2016 and years prior to that will, however, have to submit the details in the online application form.
The application process will be complete only after the candidates submits ink signed copy of confirmation page along with enclosures to the concerned Regional Office as per Office address given in confirmation page.
Revised Exam Pattern for Class 10
For class 10 board exam, as per the Circular no. 05/2017 dated January 31, 2017, CBSE will conduct Class X private examination for 80 marks (for Theory) in each subject covering the entire syllabus of the subject of class X only. The students who have been declared as EIOP/NIOP in Board (SA-2) examination 2017 or earlier will need to give 2018 examination according to the revised pattern.
Eligibility to Apply as a Private Candidate for All India Senior School Certificate Examination
The following candidates will be eligible to apply as a private candidate:
Candidate who has been declared as FAIL at the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII).
Candidate who had completed regular course of studies and had been allotted Roll No. for appearing at AISSCE examination but could not appear for the Class XII examination due to medical reasons except shortage of attendance.
Candidate placed under as compartment in March 2017 and July 2017 to apply only in the subject in which they have been placed in Compartment. Candidate applying under compartment category cannot apply for appearing in any additional subject together. Such candidates who have been placed in compartment in one subject may also apply for appearing in same 5/6 subjects in which he/she had appeared in March 2017 examination. Such candidates should select their category as FAILURE while applying online.
Candidate who has passed the examination of the Board in 2017 can apply in 2018 for improving their performance in one or more subjects provided they should have appeared and passed in the same subjects in the examination held in March 2017.
Candidates who passed the class 12 board exam in vocational stream in 2016 can also apply for improvement exam given that they did not avail this facility in 2017.
Any candidate who has passed Board examination can apply for an additional subject from the list of subjects provided on the CBSE website, within six years of passing the examination which means candidates who passed between 2012 and 2017 are eligible to apply. Though Candidates are allowed to take subjects having project component, they cannot apply for a subject involving practical work.
Improvement Exam for JEE 2018 Aspirants
As per the eligibility required for admission to IITs/NITs/IIITs/other CFTIs, the candidate should have 75% marks in class 12 board exam or should be in top 20 percentile of class 12 Examination held in 2016/ 2017. Therefore, the candidates of 2016/2017 who wish to appear in the IOP may apply for one or more subjects in which they had appeared in Board Examination of class 12th in 2016/2017.
