CBSE Board Exams: 5 Foods To Eat To Boost Memory And Stay Alert
New Delhi:
It's the board exam season. Students all over the country are now busy in revision. Revision is a recommended exercise because it helps students retain the information they have studied. As important as revision is, sometimes students find themselves in a fix when even revision does not help them in memorizing the chapters and information. This may be a direct consequence of stress which is not so uncommon during exam days. At this stressful time, food may serve as the necessary memory booster and help you keep stress in control.
Here we have curated a list of five food items which will help you in improving memory and keep stress at bay.
Almonds: It's an old saying that eating five almonds a day helps improve memory and it's not a myth. Almonds are magic nuts which are rich in lean proteins, fatty acids, Zinc, Vitamin E, and Vitamin B6. These nutrients are known to repair brain cells and slow down the ageing process of brain cells. Omega 3 and Omega 6 strengthen the nerves and improves brain function.
Walnuts: It has been proven time and again that all kinds of nuts are good for brain. Walnuts are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. The vitamin E in walnuts is also known to be a good memory booster.
Green and Leafy Vegetables: You can like them or hate them, but green and leafy vegetables must be an integral part of your diet during the exam days. Green vegetables not only strengthen your immunity but also help in keeping stress in check. They are good source of Vitamin E and folate. While it has already been mentioned how Vitamin E helps our brain, the function of folate is that it keeps the level of homocysteine, an amino acid which speeds up the death of nerve cells, low in brain.
Dark Chocolate: Researchers have found that Dark Chocolate is rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. It keeps blood pressure in control and helps in natural blood flow to heart and brain thus keeping stress in check.
Berries: To satiate your sugar cravings, don't go munching on desserts. Instead grab a handful of blueberries or strawberries. These are another good source of antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties too.
