CBSE Board Exams 2024: Major Decisions Taken This Year

Marking Scheme for Theory and Practical Exams:

CBSE has announced the marking scheme for Class 10 and 12 board exams for both theory and practical components. Each subject has a maximum allotment of 100 marks, with distribution among theory, practical, project, and internal assessment components. The marking scheme covers 83 subjects for class 10 and 121 subjects for class 12.

For Class 10 subjects like Music, Painting, Computer, Retail, Information Technology, Security, Introduction to Financial markets, Healthcare, Multimedia, etc., the practical exam marks are 50. Internal assessment marks for subjects like English, Hindi, Math, Science, Social Science are 20. In class 12, practical marks for subjects like Geography, Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Physical Education, among others, are 30. Practical marks for subjects like Painting, Graphics, Sculpture, Commercial Art, Dance, Home Science, etc., are 50. The complete marking scheme for all subjects is available on the CBSE website.

No Award Of Division or Distinction to Students:

In addition to CBSE's earlier announcement of not issuing any merit list of students when declaring the results for class 10, 12 board exams, the board has decided this year not to award any division or distinction to students. Furthermore, the decision to determine the best five subjects for calculating students' marks will rest solely with the admitting college.

Two Board Exams:

The Centre is planning to hold two board exams in a year to help students improve their scores. This decision will enable students to retain the best marks scored in the exam. The move aims not only to provide students with two opportunities annually but also reflects broader efforts to enhance the overall educational experience.
