The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams for class 10 will continue till April 10, while class 12 will end on April 29. The dates have been postponed because of the forthcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the exams for Class 10 and 12 from March 9. The CBSE exams for class 10 will continue till April 10, while class 12 will end on April 29.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said that it has "made all possible efforts to maintain reasonable time gap between the major papers and also ensured that the students appearing for Joint Engineering Exam (JEE) and upcoming National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) complete the CBSE examinations ahead of these entrance exams".
Boards like, ICSE, ISC and UP board have also postponed the dates keeping the election dates in mind. "The timetable for the ISC & ICSE 2017 Examinations is being revised owing to the forthcoming elections to the legislative assemblies of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur & Goa.", said the notice posted in its official website of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), which conducts Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations.
A total of 1667573 students have registered for Class 10 and 1098420 students will appear for Class 12, meanwhile, 10677 schools have registered for the exam this year.
The Election Commission of India on Wednesday announced the dates for assembly elections to five states which include Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. The elections will be held will be held between February 4 and March 8, the results of which will be announced on March 11.
