New Delhi: Madras University has announced new dates for the exams postponed due to the heavy rains in Chennai and neighbouring districts last week. According to a latest notification, the November 3rd and November 4th exams will be held on December 5th and December 6th respectively. Due to heavy rain in the Tamil Nadu capital, Anna University and University of Madras announced cancellation of their semester exams last week. Normal life was crippled in Chennai and its suburbs on last Friday as rains pounded the city for several hours from Thursday evening, resulting in 30 cm of showers in some eight hours and flooding several localities.

Schools and colleges were closed since Tuesday, remained shut on November 3 in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts, as the Tamil Nadu government appealed to private firms to allow their employees work from home.

Meanwhile, Anna University, Chennai also announced new dates for the exams it postponed due the rains on November 3. According to a notification published by Anna University, the all the re-scheduled exams will be conducted on November 11, 2017.

"Since there is UPSC Exam on 19-11-2017, all the Anna University re-scheduled date for the exam originally scheduled on 03-11-2017 is fixed on 25-11-2017 (sic)," said a notification from the Anna University Controller of Examinations.
