Class 10, 12 Board Exams, Time Table, Exam Date, Other Details
New Delhi:
State Boards of Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland and Karnataka are waiting for the poll dates to be declared in order to schedule the class 10, 12 board exams accordingly. With elections ahead, it is likely that elections in these four States may delay. Along with state boards, CBSE and CISCE boards are also waiting for the election dates in order to decide the exam dates. The time table of the board exams can be checked at the official websites of the Board, as and when they are declared.
Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive and Secretary, CISCE, said to TOI, 'There are a number of states going for assembly polls during the exam time. Therefore, we are waiting for the EC to declare the poll dates so that we can release our dates accordingly.'
Though election dates, play a major role, students in these States who will be appearing for the exams should not worry as Boards will finalise the dates soon. According to sources, the CBSE board exams for class 10 will be over in March and it will continue till April for class 12.
The Boards may lessen the gaps between two consecutive exams in order to complete the exam on time. A huge delay in board exams may delay the result declaration and thus will hamper the students of class 12 for higher education.
Last year, due to election in five states, board exams were preponed.
Few months after the declaration of CBSE board exam result 2016-2017, news of early board exam for the next year went around. It went viral that CBSE will conduct Board exams in February this year. However, in July, Minister of State for HRD Upendra Kushwaha in the Rajya Sabha said, "as of now, no such proposal has been moved by the CBSE," in a written reply to whether the board has proposed to prepone the annual examinations. The response of Mr Kushwaha came after various schools raised the concern over reports of the Board's plan to conduct annual exams early next year.
