Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu today expressed happiness over the start of classes in the National Film and Television Institute and Animation. The institute, which is a branch of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) in Kolkata, has begun its classes from its temporary campus in Itanagar with 25 students, who are pursuing an initial ten-week course - Journey to Cinema.

SRFTI Director Dr Debamitra Mitra said this while meeting the Chief Minister to discuss on the newly functional institute in the state, an official release said.

Khandu suggested the institute official to enrol students from Arunachal who are naturally gifted with creativity and felt such institutes will act as a catalyst to promote talent in different aspects of film making. Discussing on institute's permanent campus proposed at Jote, Khandu said construction work will start before September, the release added.
