New Delhi:

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released a list of 137 approved degree level institutions to offer Engineering courses to working professionals. In addition, the technical education body has also released another list of around 174 approved Diploma level institutions (Polytechnics) for offering diploma level Engineering courses to the working professionals.

The list is in line with the education body's earlier notification that was released for working professionals. The council had notified that technical schools in India can now offer Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Engineering programmes to working professionals.

The decision aims at helping the working professionals in continuing their education while working. The move will also help students who cannot afford the fee for higher technical education but are looking for opportunities to earn a degree while working.

Following the announcement, the advisory body had invited applications from institutes to start such courses. The AICTE had approved a maximum of three programmes with an intake of 30 seats each for each institutes.
