Schools To Remain Closed Until Further Notice: Delhi Government

Delhi government has announced to shut down all government and private schools in the state due to rising cases of COVID-19. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the schools will remain closed till further announcment.

Delhi schools closed until further notice due to rise in COVID-19 cases

Delhi government has ordered all government and private schools to remain closed due to rising cases of COVID-19. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that schools will be closed for all classes until further notice. A circular issued by the Delhi Directorate of Education directs schools to ensure that "no student of Classes 9 to 12 is called in the school physically for any kind of academic or examination activity...till further orders". The activities listed include practical work, project submission and assessments related to mid-term or annual examinations.


"In view of the sudden surge in the cases of COVID-19 in Delhi, all the Heads of Government, Government-Aided and Unaided Recognised Schools are hereby informed that conduct of all academic and examination activities through physical mode shall remain suspended with immediate effect till further orders," says the circular issued by the DoE.

The DoE has asked all the schools to discontinue offline teaching for students of Classes 9 to 12 and suspend all kinds of schools examination including mid-term and annual papers.

It has allowed the schools to continue teaching online.

Earlier, Delhi Government had announced that schools will not hold any physical classes from the new academic session starting from April 1. The new session will be conducted in virtual mode.

The students of Class 9 to Class 12 in Delhi were allowed to attend the practical classes and appear for mid-term, pre-board, annual and board exams. Directorate of Education, Delhi had said that the students could be called with prior consent of their parents to give academic guidance and help them prepare for the upcoming exams.

Due to increase in the infections, the Delhi Government has now reversed its decision regarding offline classes in schools.
