Himachal Pradesh university To Get A New Vice Chancellor Soon

Himachal Pradesh university (HPU), Shimla will soon get a new Vice Chancellor. For the past four years, the duties of the Vice Chancellor are being handled by Pro Vice Chancellor Rajendra Singh Chouhan. The state government had given him the responsibility till the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor. The University, presided by the Chancellor and Governor Acharya Dev Vrat, has invited application from eligible candidates for the post of University Vice Chancellor. The notification inviting application had been released on August 29 and the last date to submit application is September 14, 2017.
After September 14, Search Committee will go through the applications received and examine the applicants' eligibility. As per local news outlets, on September 18, Governor Acharya Dev Vrat will chair a meeting with Chief Minister Veerbhadra Singh and Secretary General for Education. In this meeting the decision will be made about the appointment of HPU Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor.
The application can be emailed to governorsecy-hp@nic.in or submitted in person to the Secretary to Governor. The eligibility is as per the UGC Regulation Act 2010 and HPU Act 1970. The applicant must have minimum ten years' experience in the field of higher education. The applicant must also have at least five years' experience in any faculty or department. The applicant should also have work experience with some research institute, board of studies, academic council, EC, Senate or board of management.
