IGNOU Initiates Admission To BPP Through CSC Network

Admission to the Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is available online through any of the Common Service Centre (CSC). This is for the first time that the University has initiated its admission procedure through the CSCs across the nation. BPP is a non-formal channel to be eligible for BA\ B.Com\Bachelor in Social Work\ Bachelor in Tourism Studies of the university. It is the most popular programme amongst those students who aspire for higher education but are unable to leverage the opportunity.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) commenced its admission process for January 2018 session on October last week. The university invited admission for 136 programmes in online mode and admissions in 11 programmes are offered in offline mode. The last date for applying for the courses offered for January 2018 session is December 12.
Dr. Subhas Shetgovekar, the programme coordinator for the BPP programme said that, "The programme is meant for those students who do not have the essential qualifications of 10+2. In the absence of such a qualifying certificate, these students are deprived of higher education. BPP has been designed to meet this gap for which no prior formal education is required."
The programme is available in 9 regional languages, viz., English, Oriya, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Malayalam and Gujarati. Its duration is minimum six months and maximum two years.
