IGNOU Launches PG Diploma In Mental Health, Apply Before August 18 @ Ignou.ac.in

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)'s School of Social Sciences (SOSS) has launched a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health (PGDMH) programme from July'2017 session. According to a press release from varsity, the programme is offered by the Discipline of Psychology, SOSS, and aims at providing the learners a sound base in the field of mental health through an in-depth study into a broad range of psychological issues and concerns related to mental health.
"The objective of the programme is to build capacity through spreading of awareness and training of personnel working in the field to take care of the pressing need of the society addressing the mental health and well-being of the people," explained the programme co-ordinator Dr. Swati Patra.
She further added that the programme would help address the mental health requirements of people in view of shortage of trained mental health personnel in India.
The prospective learner for the programme should be Post Graduate in Psychology/Social Work/Nursing or be a medical graduate in any of the medicine fields viz., Allopathy/Homoeopathy/Ayurvedic/Unani/Siddha.
The programme follows Open & Distance Mode of education and uses multiple media approach viz., self-instructional print material, audio-video programmes, counselling sessions, teleconferencing and interactive radio counselling through Gyan Vani, FM channel of IGNOU.
The courses covered under the programme range from Fundamentals of Mental Health, Mental Disorders to Services for the mentally ill. The last date to apply for the programme is 18 August 2017 through online admission procedure of the University, said the press release from last friday.
