IISER Kolkata Best Placed Among IISERs: Official

The IISER Kolkata is the best placed among all five IISERs in the country in terms of faculty productivity, the director of the institute claimed. The research output versus faculty strength for all five IISERs (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research) shows that IISER Kolkata is best placed in terms of faculty productivity and citation pattern of its research output, institute Director Prasanta K Panigrahi said here at the campus in Nadia district.
In an overall assessment of IISERs for the period of March, 2016 to February, 2017, the IISER Kolkata ranked best among IISERs in h-index, Mr Panigrahi pointed out.
The IISER Kolkata students are attracting scholarships for pursuing PhD as well as carrying on ost-doctoral research in top notch universities in the world, he said.
These include major national level research institutions, such as Oxford University, Standford University, University of Cambridge, John Hopkins University, Ohio State University, Yale University, ETH Zurich.
Dean of Student Affairs (DOSA) Arindam Kundagrami said the premier institute embarked on a student outreach programme to help poor children.
The programme 'Ek Pahal' is aimed at empowering the children belonging to the underprivileged segment of society.
