ISRO Career In Astronomy: IIST Admission 2017
New Delhi: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is in news again for launching 104 satellites in one go. The launch would not have been such a success without the contribution of the team which worked relentlessly toward every single aspect of the launch. While working for ISRO is a dream for many students in India, very few have any idea about the process involved in joining the organization. One of the modes to enter ISRO as a Scientist or Engineer is through Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Trivandrum. 

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, every year conducts and admission drive for 12th pass students for its 4 year B.Tech. programs and 5 year dual degree programs. Students enrolled with B.Tech. and Dual degree programs at IIST are absorbed by Department of Space (DoS) and ISRO on completion of the program. The absorption is offered on the basis of merit and an IIST student must maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.5 out of 10 in order to be eligible for absorption. 

IIST offers admission to students on the basis of score in JEE Advance exam. JEE Advance 2017 exam will be conducted on May 21, 2017. Candidates who wish to study at IIST must also apply to the institute separately.

Important Dates for IIST Admission 2017

The online registration for IIST will begin on May 21, 2017 and will end on June 12, 2017. The admission counselling for IIST will be conducted in the fourth week of June. According to the admission notice published on the Institute's website, the detailed information and dates will be announced in the admission bulletin which will be published on the official website on April 30.
