Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will take strict action against students who do not comply with COVID-19 pandemic guidelines. The University released a notice, which is available on the University website, advising students to strictly follow the COVID-19 guidelines 'in letter and spirit'.
The University has said it will take disciplinary action against students who are flouting the COVID-19 guidelines even after reminders, putting themselves and other at serious health risk.
"Even as the essential services providers of JNU have been working tirelessly to meet the requirements of the University community, and ensuring their safety and security, it has been found that some students are openly flouting the Covid19 guidelines, even after reminders, thereby putting themselves as well as the entire community to serious health risk," reads the notice.
In the notice, the University says that the University administration has been informed of students who have disregarded requests of the shopkeepers and the guards on duty to maintain queue while entering the shops and milk booth, to keep social distancing and wear masks.
The University administration says that these students have also been spotted 'purposelessly' cycling and walking on the road. University has warned such students of disciplinary action.
The 21-day lockdown which began on March 25 was further extended till May 3 on April 14 by PM Narendra Modi. Situation will be assessed till April 20 and areas which are not in the hot-spot category and have less likelihood of turning into one may be allowed to open up select necessary activities from April 20.
