Polling is underway at Jawaharlal Nehru University for 4 Students' Union posts. All eyes are on the outcome of the polls. Though a University Students' Union election, it is widely believed that the result of these elections, including the DUSU elections, are an indicator of the mood of teh voters in the country. DUSU Poll counting culminated yesterday with ABVP clinching 3 posts and NSUI 1 post.
The polling is being conducted in two phases. Phase one started at 9:30 am and will continue till 1:30 pm. Phase two will begin at 2:30 pm and will end at 5:30 pm.
This year All India Students' Association (AISA), Students' Federation of India (SFI), Democratic Students' Federation (DSF) and All India Students' Federation (AISF) have formed a United-Left alliance. Apart form the United-Left Alliance, ABVP and NSUI are the usual contenders.
Apart from the usual campaigning procedure, JNUSU polls are also known for their presidential debate which happened on Wednesday. The candidates also addressed the questions put forth to them by the spectators after the debate was over. The Presidential debate is considered to be a deciding factor in the elections.
