For the second public examination of D.El.Ed. programme the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has released the date sheet. As per the schedule released by NIOS, the exam for Untrained In-Service teachers under the D.El.Ed programme will be held in September 2018. The exam will begin on September 25, 2018 with 'Elementary Education in India' (subject code: 501) as the first paper. The exams will be held in the afternoon session (02.30 pm to 05.30 pm).
The second year registration was completed in July 2018. D.El.Ed. learners who had not registered in the first examination of D.El.Ed, held on May 31 (501), June 1 (502) and June 2, 2018 (503), were allowed to apply for the examination for subject code 501, 502 and 503 along with registration fee for second examination i.e. 504 and 505.

NIOS D.El.Ed programme for untrained teachers is being conducted after the parliament passed an amendment in RTE act to help them qualify to teach in elementary schools. Over 12 lakh untrained teachers across the country took the first year examination of the two year diploma course in elementary education. NIOS is a body working under Human Resource Development ministry of central government.
In another update, NIOS has extended the last date for application submission for admission to vocational courses. NIOS offers vocational courses independently and also along with other mainstream secondary and senior secondary courses. Under its Virtual Open Schooling (VOS), it offers two vocational courses: Certificate in ICT Applications and Diploma in Rural Technology
