AIIMS, Delhi was ranked as the best medical institute in the country second year in a row. In the NIRF 2019 rankings which were announced yesterday, AIIMS retained its top spot form last year. There have been some visible shifts in the ranking of the institutes with Kasturba Medical College, Manipal shifting to seventh rank from third rank which it held last year. Similarly, King George's Medical University was ranked fifth in 2018 whereas in 2019 it is at tenth rank.

MHRD launched NIRF rankings in 2015 and the first ranks were announced in 2016. The first NIRF ranks for medical institutes were announced last year.
