Rumor mills are abuzz that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) may extend all affiliations by one year amid the coronavirus crisis which has turned all systems upside down. However, the board has not released any such statement or notice.
The board had earlier, upon receiving request from schools, extended the last date to submit affiliation application under various category to April 30, 2020. The date was extended after schools applying for affiliation complained of problems being faced by them in application submission due to COVID-19 situation.
The speculation that CBSE will extend the affiliation period may stem from the fact that lockdown owing to coronavirus pandemic was further extended on April 14. The nation-wide lockdown will now end on May 3.
Schools can apply for affiliation in four categories - fresh affiliation, upgradation, switch from other board, and extension of affiliation.
Earlier, the board had also released a notice alerting schools about misleading information being circulated regarding affiliation. The board had said that it has not appointed any agency or advisor to offer any affiliation related services and hence schools should not fall for any such traps.
For authenticated affiliation related information and Bye-Laws interested parties can visit the Board's official affiliation website, 'cbseaff.nic.in'.
