World Pharmacist Day 2017: Courses and Top Pharmacy Institutes In India

FIP Council several years ago at the FIP Congress in Istanbul, designated September 25 as the World Pharmacists Day. The day is celebrated to advocate and appreciate the role of pharmacists in improving health conditions around the world. In India, there are one million registered pharmacists. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has released a poster to mark the occasion and has asked Pharmacy colleges to celebrate the Pharmacist Day and send a report about the same to PCI.
On this World Pharmacists Day, let's take a look at the education system in place for people aspiring to become pharmacists in India.
Courses in Pharmacy
At entry-level, students have the option to pursue D.Pharm. which is a diploma course in pharmacy. The undergraduate and postgraduate courses available in Pharmacy are Bachelor in Pharmacy and Masters in Pharmacy. Some colleges also offer integrated courses in Pharmacy that is Integrated B.Pharm. and M.Pharm. or B.Pharm. and MBA.
At Master's level, students also have the option to pursue Pharm. D. (Post Baccalaureate) which is a 3-year professional post-graduate course. After Masters, students who wish to study further can go for an M.Phil. and/or PhD in various branches of Pharmacy.
