ITI students in Punjab have made more than 2.5 lakh masks till date. The information was given in a meeting with the Union Skill Development Minister, Dr. Mahendra Nath pandey, who took a detailed review of various initiatives taken up by NSTIs, ITIs and Jan Shikshan Sansthans which are working under the aegis of the Ministry. In the meeting, the institutes showcased their innovatibve products made for the protection of people and healthcare workers aginst the coronavirus pandemic. 

In the meeting principals and students of 28 ITIs from across the country participated. Of the 28 ITIs, 6 were from Punjab. 

The Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi informed that ITI students in Punjab had produced more than 2.5 lakh masks. He also appealed to the principals and students to continue with the work and advised them to take necessary precautions while making masks to be safe from coronavirus.

Mr. Anurag Verma, Principal Secretary Technical Education and Industrial Training Punjab said that from Punjab, Principals and students of ITI Rajpura, Patiala, Moga, Rayia, SAS Nagar and Government Institute of Garment Technology Amritsar participated in the video with the Union Minister.

Mr. Verma said that he had already directed all the Deputy Commissioners in the state to get masks stitched by the students of ITIs free of cost. "The best part is that the raw material for making masks is being collected through donations and stitching has been carried out as Sewa and Masks are being distributed free of cost", he added.
